First established in 2015 by the CATalyst Council, the main purpose of Happy Cat Month is to spread awareness of the innate need for cats to feel loved and cared for. Despite the fact that many people see them as being aloof creatures, cats are actually quite emotional and complex pets—and they deserve our full care and attention.
Throughout each week of Happy Cat Month, cat owners are encouraged to focus on different aspects of their cats' health and wellness. If you're a cat owner, one of the best things you can do for your kitty's happiness this month is to make sure he or she is up-to-date on all veterinary services. This includes your cat's annual wellness exam, vaccinations, flea prevention, and screenings for certain illnesses as well.
You can also take some simple steps at home to help your cat lead a happier life. Make sure, for example, that your cat has plenty of entertainment in the form of toys—and that you're taking the time to play with your cat at least a few minutes per day. If your cat isn't very playful, simply spending a few minutes each day snuggling or otherwise spending time with your cat can make all the difference in his or her happiness.
