With the holidays fast approaching, we cannot forget our canine friends. The veterinarians at Hamilton Road Animal Hospital in Columbus, OH are devoted to providing the highest level of care for each and every one of the pets that comes in for checkups and treatments. We love to celebrate this time of year by making special holiday dog biscuits.
And in the spirit of celebration and sharing, our veterinary team wants to share our recipe with you. These are biscuits you can easily make from ingredients commonly found in the home.
It just doesn’t feel like the holiday season has started here until we make our Hamilton Road Animal Hospital holiday dog biscuits. These tempting treats promote canine health and wellness and will be sure to have the dogs in your life wagging their tails with pleasure!
Since this recipe comes from professional veterinarians, you can rest assured that all the ingredients are safe for dogs to eat.
* 2 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
* ½ cup powdered milk
* 1 teaspoon salt
* ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 egg
* 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 8-10 tablespoons of water
* 2 small jars of strained baby food (chicken, liver, beef…)
Mix all ingredients together and knead for three minutes. Roll the mixture out using a rolling pin, to ½ inch thickness. Using your favorite cookie cutter shape (such as a bone, cat or squirrel), cut out and place biscuits on an un-greased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Makes approximately 2 dozen biscuits. A great idea for a present for all your furry friends.
This homemade dog biscuit recipe is a favorite with Brisco, the Turley family dog, at holiday time. And best of all, the recipe is simple enough that even Dr. Turley can bake these healthy biscuits!
We hope that your dog enjoys the delicious holiday biscuits that you make from our clinic’s recipe! In addition to helping you make healthy treats, the team at Hamilton Road Animal Hospital wants to remind you of the importance of bringing your dog in for a health and wellness checkup at least once per year. Start the year off right by calling in for an appointment today.
