Simply put: surgery is scary. Whether for you or for your pet, there are equal amounts of fear and anxiety at the prospect of undergoing any surgical procedure. Here at Hamilton Road Animal Hospital, in Columbus, OH, not only do we have the utmost in surgical expertise and experience in our veterinarians, but just as important is our focus on soothing both you and your pet before, during, and after the surgical procedure. Here is a closer look at surgery in our animal hospital.
If the dog surgery is routine or planned, we will first meet with you for a regular visit. Our entire staff understands your anxiety about your beloved pet and will do everything to make you as comfortable and confident about the surgery as possible. Here is a summary of what you can expect.
Once it has been determined that your dog needs surgery, whether routine or planned, we’ll schedule a time for both of you to come in for a visit. During this visit we’ll perform a complete physical examination on your dog including performing several diagnostic tests and doing blood work. Because we are a fully-equipped veterinary hospital, the results of these tests come back quickly and are more affordable for you. We’ll also discuss all aspects of the procedure as well as required preparation, recovery and after-care. We want to make sure you are comfortable with and understand everything about your pet’s procedure.
We realize that anesthesia is always the big concern, so to ease your mind, we have the most up-to-date surgical suite equipment for monitoring all of your pet’s vitals throughout the entire procedure. Our technicians are highly trained and experienced with animal surgery, and of course, our staff of veterinarians are tops in the field.
What happens after surgery depends upon the procedure. During recovery in the hospital, we lavish compassionate care on all patients as they awaken from anesthesia. We also make sure they are physically progressing as they should. Once they are deemed able to go home, we’ll again meet with you and go through the detailed regimen of care your pet will need at home.
We perform a wide range of surgical procedures, but the most common include spaying and neutering, dental cleaning and oral care, wound care, biopsies and mass removals, gastrointestinal, urinary tract procedures, and eye surgery.
In the event that your pet requires any surgical procedure, you truly cannot be in any better hands than with us at Hamilton Road Animal Hospital. If you have not already joined our family, please give us a call at 614-239-0027 for an appointment to meet us.
